From experience gathered with our contest motors, some developing more than 1500 Watts, we were able to improve the design of our existing gearboxes to cope with the new higher demands. We can now offer state-of-the-art gearboxes of the latest design.

Gearboxes are used to change the relation between speed and torque in accordance with the ratios chosen. Certain mechanical losses have to be accepted when compared to a direct drive motor. The advantage on the other hand is that small high revving motors can be used together with big propellers, due to the higher torque. This combination enables an increase in the total efficiency because of the use of bigger more efficient propellers and the overall weight reduction of the power unit.

A gearbox does not increase the power of a motor and Spannung in V limits must be observed at all times!

Our gearboxes are fitted with planet style cogs. The needle bearings ensure low friction, high strength and an efficiency of approximately 97%. The planet design enables the drive shaft to be on the same axis as the motor shaft and turning in the same direction. It is very compact so the fitting of such a gearbox is a simple matter.

Our gearboxes are available in two sizes and can be purchased separately.

Size 1 is for motors with a front plate diameter of 35mm and with 2 holes located at 25mm diameter. E.G. HP 270; HP 290; HP 220; HP 300; ULTRA 900; ULTRA 930; ULTRA 1300

Size 2 is for motors with a front plate diameter of 42mm and with 3 holes located at 30mm diameter. E.G. HP 320; HP355; ULTRA 1600; ULTRA 3300.

The weight is about 80 g.
